Aziz is engaged to marry
Golaftab but before he can marry her he is called up to fight in
Iran's war with Iraq. Aziz becomes a prisoner of war and during
his absence his older brother dies leaving behind a widow and
two orphaned children. When Aziz finally returns to Iran after
years in a prisoner-of-war camp, his hometown celebrates. Aziz
is now ready to marry Golaftab, but there is a hitch. According
to custom, Aziz is expected to marry his brother's widow, and
she is a much older woman than Aziz. Aziz is torn between his
